Goodbye Training Wheels

He has done it! Abram has officially turned in the training wheels and can now ride a two-wheeler! He worked hard on it towards the end of last summer without success, but I guess all he needed was a beautiful spring day to figure it out. And he persevered, let me tell you. Fall after fall, he kept hopping back on his bike. After he had a 10 foot stretch without falling, Abram was determined to get it down. He had one awful crash (right into a tree, then falling backwards and smacking his head on the sidewalk- thank goodness for his helmet), but it barely phased him. Alex and Sam and I had a great time cheering him on, and then when Phil came home from work we all went down to the park for some more practice. He is doing awesome! There is no stopping him now!

I am so happy that I can ride a 2-wheeler. It is so fun, and it hurt a little bit when I bumped into the tree.

Abram is the MAN!!! Way to go buddy. Good thing you learned to ride while you were still 4, you won all the 5 year olds that still can't ride bikes.

Abram, great job! You'll have to show me when I come to visit. Thanks for posting the video, Heid.

Abram, I know you are already 5, I meant that it is good you learned before you were 6 because there aren't a lot of 6 year olds that know how to ride a two-wheeler.

Way to go Abram! I can't wait to see you riding.

Heidi, Abram is seriously welcome to come to our house ANY time! We were sad he couldn't stay the other night. Having Abram over keeps Easton out of our hair!

Heidi...hey...we are staying in St. George just outside Santa Clara. Anyhow, just thought I'd let you kwow, since I could never think of the town when we were talking. I think you suggested Santa Clara might be what I was trying to think of. Have fun while you're down here. It's supposed to be great weather.

Heidi, Phil & family - Long story short: Phil assisted Paul with photo session for my family last fall. Since then I have been logging onto your blog. I noticed that you and Aly are thinking of going 'private' (I understand); but I would love to be included in your list of readers. I love seeing the pics of your cute family, and reading about the antics and remarks of your above average children. poet_sue@yahoo.com
